DIAMONDS & LEGENDS

An exciting collaboration with the Natural History Museum to marry with their current diamonds exhibition has resulted in a wonderful show now in repertoire which combines science and art, fact interwoven with story. Scientist Singh, a modern Asian hand puppet, asks "Where do diamonds come from? what colours can they be? how old are the oldest and where were they first found?"

With the help of Scientist Singh facts about diamonds and their properties are unravelled for the audience, who get to shake hands with the puppet as they answer.

Interwoven with the facts about diamonds we tell two beautiful stories about them; how they were first formed according to Indian legend, and how Alexander the Great made a great discovery in the Valley of Diamonds. The first story takes place across the three turning Worlds of the Universe and involves a struggle between the Gods and a Dhanava, or demon.

This is a superb session for children to learn about the natural properties of the World's hardest mineral in a captivating and enchanting way.
