SIKH

Rani is probably the only Sikh expert in Great Britain mastering marionettes and her own religion and culture make her ideal for displays of this kind. She has recently acquired a set of modern Sikh puppets and tells parables as well as stories from the Gurus'lives like the founding of the Sikh religion, on the festival of Baiskahi, around 13th April every year.

(Sikh festivals based around important dates to do with the Gurus take place throughout the year, so Sikh sessions are always relevant.) Sikh Children - Click to enlarge She also tells the story of the Donkey and the Tiger Skin, narrated by the tenth Guru, Gobind Singh, to encourage his followers to be brave. Sikh religious ceremonies can be enacted at the Acton venue, and there is an actual Sikh prayer room with the Sikh Holy Book accorded full ceremony there which is in daily use and can be viewed. (with full respect to religious observance and with the kind permission of the owners)

Daily readings take place in accordance with religious practice.

This theme is deeply useful for any student of world relgions, philosphy and culture, with Sikh elders on hand at the Acton studio to answer questions.

The Acton venue is two mins from Acton Central Station, for contact details go to CONTACT
